Tignes - Val d'Isère Ski area Alps / Savoie

A world-renowned ski destination with over 300 km of slopes, there’s something for everyone. To offer you the best possible experience, the winter season starts on the first weekend in December and ends at the beginning of May.

A ski area For champions and families

The Tignes-Val d’Isère ski area welcomes you every winter, to everyone’s delight. You can take on the mythical Face de Bellevarde with a magnificent view of the Alps and the village below. If you prefer ski touring, you’ll find our 2 marked and secure zones as well as splendid off-piste runs, accessible through ski schools and independent instructors.

Speaking of the Face de Bellevarde, we can’t help but recall the great events that have taken place there, such as the 1992 Albertville Olympic Games, the 2009 World Ski Championships and the Critérium de la Première Neige, where the world’s best skiers gather every year.

Our tip: after warming up, be one of the first to ski down the Face de Bellevarde and enjoy the freshly groomed piste – a real treat. Bear in mind that this run is intended for skiers with an advanced level of skiing, so beginners are advised to abstain.

Snow is guaranteed

When people think of guaranteed snow, they think of Val d’Isère, and rightly so, for a number of reasons:

  • Altitude, of course, plays a key role. The higher you are, the more precipitation you get in the form of snow rather than rain, and the less pronounced the melting.
  • Being between 1,800m and over 3,000m also ensures the temperatures needed to produce artificial snow.
  • The Val d’Isère ski area is equipped with top-quality snow guns covering over 65km of runs. This means you can ski from early December to early May.
  • The diversity of slope exposures, particularly to the north, not only ensures optimum snow retention, but also consistently high snow quality.
  • Last but not least, our proximity to the Italian border means that we benefit from exceptional, highly localized snowfalls: the “retour d’Est” phenomenon.

In Val d'Isère, great minds meet

Here, passion makes no distinction. Young children, teenagers, senior citizens, stars or champions… everyone comes here for the best and for the skiing. Whether you want to make your first tracks on the opening weekend of the ski area, get a great deal on a ski weekend or a week’s skiing in early December, or spend the Christmas holidays in the mountains with your family, there’s something for everyone and everyone can discover and enjoy Val d’Isère in their own way.
The free-spirited can take advantage of the good deals in January, while sun, terrace and soft snow addicts can come back for more in the spring.

So take a deep breath and let us take you on a unique journey to Val d’Isère!
