In winter Snow chains compulsory

To travel on a snow-covered section of road where a panel indicates “équipements spéciaux obligatoires”, it is compulsory to equip at least two drive wheels with snow chains. To do so, you must stop in one of the lay-bys designated for this purpose. On the road to Val d’Isère, once past Sainte-Foy Tarentaise. you’ll find one of these snow-chain stopping areas at ‘La Raie’.

Organise your stay in Val d'Isère

Val d’Isère is determined to retain its authentic feel and pioneering spirit, to offer you the real mountain experience!
