What to do in July and August in Val d'Isère?

After the winter, the mountains emerge from their beautiful cloak of white to reveal a completely different landscape of greenery, lakes and peaks… sports heaven for energetic visitors wishing to explore the mountains and a peaceful haven for those in search of a breath of fresh air away from the pressure of day-to-day life and the noise of the city.

Enjoy the summer vibe between sport and sweet idleness

In summer, it’s all happening in Val d’Isère with a whole string of events and a host of activities. For example:

  • Did you know that 50% of Val d’Isère’s municipal territory belongs to the Vanoise National Park? During your walks here, you may come across some amazing flora and wildlife such as bearded vultures, eagles, ibex, chamois and marmots!
  • Visit Ouillette lake, which you can reach directly from the Solaise gondola lift, to feast your eyes on an extraordinary panoramic view, fish for trout or just relax in one of the deck chairs at the restaurant.
  • If you’re more into football, trampolining, crazy golf, swimming or massages, then head for the sports park in Le Manchet centre, or the Centre Aquasportif.
  • For a refreshing break to recuperate afterwards, take a dip in one of the outdoor swimming pools: le Relais, le Blizzard and l’Altitude!
  • Try an alternative way to explore the mountains by taking to the MTB trails of the Tignes – Val d’Isère Bike Park! To find out more click here.

The programme offers an opportunity to visit the region on various walks, take action by helping to clean the ski area and the Isère riverbanks, join activity workshops and share pleasant experiences in the great outdoors.

Fête du Vieux Val From 27 to 28 July 2024

Head for the village of Val d’Isère on the weekend of 27 & 28 July 2024 for the traditional Vieux Val festivities! There’ll be a children’s fête, fireworks, a car-boot sale, a Savoie-style meal, a procession of floats and more, bringing the whole village together in a friendly, festive atmosphere. Each year, the Pics à Bouic association invites the residents of Val d’Isère to express their sense of truly belonging to the local community by hosting this festival that transports us to another era. This is one of a kind!

La Foire Savoyarde  From 3 to 4 August 2024

The 19th Foire Savoyarde invites you to join this typically regional fair to experience a fabulously friendly and festive atmosphere. More than 100 stands and craftspeople from all over Savoie and Piedmont will be there to showcase their expertise and share their passion. The Foire Avaline also features a host of activities for children, all kinds of concerts, Savoie folklore and antiques stalls. The two days of the fair will transform the village of Val d’Isère and carry you off to another era. In Savoie, fairs like this used to be vital for the trade of products between Italy and the Tarentaise region. The Foire Avaline revives this tradition, inviting us to discover famous products from just over the border. Here’s your chance to stock up on excellent local specialities, stop at a stand to taste some wine and listen to the amazing stories of sculptors eager to share their passion. Jewellery, books, essential oils, home decoration and accessories are just some of the items that may tempt you as you stroll between the stands. Go on, treat yourself to that beautiful handcrafted porcelain vase!
